heat-resistant cast iron
Heat resistant cast iron is a special type of cast iron that has the properties of oxidation resistance and growth resistance under high temperature conditions, and can maintain high strength.
1、 Requirements for heat-resistant cast iron
The main requirements for heat-resistant cast iron are good oxidation resistance and growth resistance.
1. Antioxidant activity
The so-called oxidation resistance refers to the ability of heat-resistant cast iron to resist corrosion from the surrounding atmosphere during high-temperature operation. Generally speaking, heat-resistant cast iron has an average oxidation rate of no more than 0.5g/(m2 • h) after 150 hours at the specified working temperature.
2. Growth resistance
The so-called growth resistance refers to the ability of heat-resistant cast iron to resist irreversible volume growth during high-temperature operation. Generally speaking, the ability of heat-resistant cast iron to resist growth for 150 hours at the specified working temperature should not exceed 0.2% (mass fraction).

2、 Classification of heat-resistant cast iron
Adding alloying elements such as Si, Al, Cr to ordinary cast iron can improve its heat resistance. Heat resistant cast iron is generally divided into silicon-based heat-resistant cast iron, aluminum based heat-resistant cast iron, aluminum silicon based heat-resistant cast iron, and chromium based heat-resistant cast iron.
Due to the high content of elements such as silicon and aluminum, heat-resistant cast iron has slightly poor flowability, large linear shrinkage, and high brittle transition temperature during casting, and the castings are often prone to cracking. Therefore, there are certain peculiarities in the process of shaping and sand removal, which are different from ordinary cast iron. The casting defects of heat-resistant cast iron parts include cold cracking, porosity, graphite segregation, and shrinkage porosity.
